Morning to everybody! A
brief entry to let you know that we have already bagged our first two
hauls. The first has already been processed, the second is in good
hands, with Adriana and her team (Iván, Bernardo, and Juan) working
on it. Both hauls seem to have a very similar catch: mostly capelin
with a bit of plaice, a bit of skate, a bit of witch flounder, the
latter possibly with a bit of cod. Not very abundant, which is good
for an easy start. Nair has also done her thing and has put down
twice the CTD. She's probably downloading the data from the second
sample right now.
The team looked so much
forward to start that this morning everybody (or nearly) was down in
the working deck, waiting for the first catch of the day. In the
picture you can see Bernardo in the foreground and Juan, one of our
students from Alicante University, sorting the catch. The little
silvery fish are the capelin.
The coordinates of
hauls 1 and 2 are shown above.
