Vaya horas se han hecho… seguro que ya no contabais con tener noticias nuestras… Aunque hay que decir que nosotros tenemos una hora menos que la Península. La cambiamos ayer, y cambiará de nuevo antes de llegar al Gran Banco, para aprovechar la luz y que la escala en Canadá no nos pille con el pie cambiado. Además de cambiar el equipo científico hay que aprovechar para comprar víveres, gasoil, rellenar los depósitos del agua… el barco tiene que estar operativo en horas de comercio.
Hoy ha sido un día tranquilo. Continuamos nuestra ruta al Gran Banco, mucho mejor que ayer porque ya no tenemos el viento del oeste. Estamos avanzando más y sin tanto balance. Se han ocupado casi todas las sillas a la hora de las comidas. ¡Y justo a tiempo! Los domingos hay croissants recién hechos para desayunar, y a mediodía se "estrena" un jamón y hay entremeses antes de la comida. No vamos a dar detalles para evitar que en la próxima campaña se nos llene el barco de polizones, pero la verdad es que los cocineros del Vizconde de Eza son de ovación y vuelta. Además, en el comedor está Manuel, siempre pendiente de que no nos falte de nada y animando al personal a comer de todo y un poquito más… Como no tengamos cuidado bajaremos del barco rodando…
Nuestros universitarios han salido muy marineros y se les ve varias veces al día por cubierta, ojo avizor por si alguna ballena se deja ver. ¡Hay que aprovechar mientras no haga frío! También se ha instalado la mesa de ping-pong, en fin, que entretenimiento no falta. Pero mañana empezaremos a trabajar, montando el laboratorio y revisando los aparejos. Tenemos repuestos para todo, pero nunca está de más comprobar que todo está bien. Ya os contaremos.

Sunday...still on our way
We have just realised how late it is! You probably thought there would be no news from us today… But you should know is not that late for us! We changed the time yesterday, and now it is one hour earlier than in Spain (in the Peninsula, at least). And we will change it again, before arriving to the Grand Banks, to work with daylight and also to make easier our brief stay in Canada. The scientific team will be replaced, and the ship uses the stop to load food, fuel, water… in short, we need to adapt to Canadian time.
Today has been rather quiet. We still are on our way to the Grand Banks, much better than yesterday because the wind has dropped. We are making better way and without rolling as much. Nearly everybody came for lunch, and about time! Sundays start with newly baked croissants for breakfast, a whole Spanish ham is set on a wooden stand, so we can get a slice any time, and several appetizers are served with lunch. We are not going to say too much to avoid an overload of stowaways in the next survey, but the cooks on board Vizconde de Eza deserve an standing ovation. Besides, our waiter Manuel makes sure we lack nothing, and encourages us to try everything, maybe have some more… We better be careful or by the time we arrive to St. John's we will roll to land rather than walk…
Our recruits from the University have already found their sea legs and we see them outside several times a day, eyes always well peeled watching out for whales. We shouldn't waste the chance to get fresh air before it gets cold!
The ping-pong table has also been set, so there is more than enough entertainment. But tomorrow there will be work to do! We have to set up the lab and check the gears. We got replacements for everything, but nevertheless there is no harm in doublechecking things… But this we'll tell you tomorrow!
